I hope everyone is enjoying the year! For us here at the Great Rivers Chapter, it’s already been a busy 2018, and we’re planning for more!
I’d like to start by welcoming our new Board Members; BrookeMuhlack and reelected to the Board is John Warren. Our officers for 2018 include JB Dixon serving as Vice President, Tom Wells serving as Treasurer and Darice Baxter serving as Secretary. I, Ronald Poe, will be serving as President.
IECA has also implemented the positions of State Representatives this year to assist in providing state specific information to our membership. Ronald Poe will be Nebraska’s rep, Brooke Muhlack– Iowa, Kellie Herman – Missouri, and Doug Carpenter – Kansas.
The 2018 IECA Annual Conference and Expo was held in Long Beach, CA February 11 ‐14. As always this conference brings together colleagues from around the world to learn about the latest stormwater and erosion control topics and products. This is always an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues from our region and discuss future opportunities here in our Chapter. Great Connections 2018 was held in Dubuque, IA on April 24 ‐
26, and it was a huge success. This collaborative effort between the Great Rivers and Great Lakes Chapters of IECA, along with the City of Dubuque, brought forth many great ideas and the state of our industry.
As for the Great Rivers Chapter in 2018, we’re currently working on two events. On July 19, join the IECA Great Rivers Chapter for the IECA St. Louis Regional Event. More information on this event is in our newsletter. Finally, our Annual Fall Conference will be in the fall in the Kansas City area. I encourage you to watch our website for additional information, as we continue to plan for these events.
And finally as we reflect on a successful 2017, our Chapter’s Board of Directors is excited for the upcoming events being planned for 2018. If you have ideas for speakers, venues or anything to help make our events a success, feel free to contact me or any of our Great Rivers Chapter board members.
Happy New Year!
Ronald Poe, PLA, CPESC
